Days of Oris 15: Introducing the speakers - José María Sánchez

We are introducing the speakers of Days of Oris 15 which will be held on 17th and 18th October at Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall.

José María Sánchez García, leading architect of the young generation of Spanish architects, Associate Professor in architecture at the Polytechnic University of Madrid (ETSAM).

Born in Don Benito, Badajoz, Spain in 1975. Graduated in architecture from the Technical University of Architecture of Madrid in 2002. Currently teaches projects at the Technical University of Architecture of Madrid.

Has built work, won at architecture competitions: 1st prize for the intervention in the environment of the Roman Temple of Diana in Mérida; 1st prize for the Rowing Centre in Alange, Badajoz; 1st prize for the The Ring international sports centre, Guijo de Granadilla; 1st prize for the adaptation of the San Juan de Dios Convent as the Hospedería de Olivenza in Badajoz.

Has received many distinctions, international (1st prize in AR+D Architectural Review Award for Emerging Architecture 2009 at RIBA, London; 1st prize in Architectural Record’s Design Vanguard 2009 (New York); Awarded as one of the best seven international emerging offices by the University ETH Zurich), as national (1st Prize of Young Architecture 11th Biennial of Spanish Architecture; 1st Prize of the V Nan Architecture and Construction Award 2011; 1st prize in the Napisa Prizes 2008–09; 1st prize of the 2008 ENOR Prize for Young Architecture; 1st prize in Veteco 2009 Prizes; Mention at the 10th Biennial of Spanish Architecture).
