Discussion: Goran Rako & Vanja Ilić - Museum in Vučedol / 26-11-2015

On Thursday, 26 November at 7 p.m., in the Oris House of Architecture there will be a discussion with architects Goran Rako (Radionica arhitekture) and Vanja Ilić, on their project of the Vučedol Architectural Museum, winner of the major award of the Zagreb Salon of Architecture and Piranesi 2015 Special Mention

The discussion will be moderated by Saša Randić.

During that week you will have the opportunity to see the materials related to the project – drawings, sketches, photographs in the Oris House of Architecture.  

Radionica arhitekture in Zagreb was founded in 2003 by Goran Rako. In 2004, after winning the competition, the project of the Kindergarten Šegrt Hlapić was launched. The team won the competition for the Cascade Trade Centre the next year. The Archaeological Museum Narona (Vladimir Nazor Award) was finalized and they were also invited to the competition for the new Zagreb Airport.  Another important competition was the Memorial Water Tower in Vukovar, when Radionica again won the first prize. In 2009 the project of the Archaeological Museum in Vučedol in Vukovar was launched, and they win the competition for the urban plan of Muller’s Hill. Radionica won the 2nd prize at the 2011international competition for the Natural Disaster Research Centre in Istanbul, and one of the five equally valuable first awards at the 2013 international competition for the Collider Activity Centre in Sophia.  The current members of Radionica architecture are: Fani Frković, Vedrana Ivanda, Domagoj Ivanović, Dora Krušelj, Iva Pejić, Ana Rako, Ankica Rako, Goran Rako and Josip Sabolić.
 
Vanja Ilić was born in Zagreb in 1973. Graduated from the Faculty of Architecture in Zagreb in 1998. Established the Capsula architectural office with I. Ergić and V. Milutin in 2000. Opened her own office as certified architect in 2003. Has been present on the architectural scene since 1997 with a number of realizations, competitions, exhibitions, and projects in the field of architecture, interior design, public space, and exhibition displays. Has won a number of awards in the profession both in Croatia and abroad, as well as a number of awards at urbanistic and architectural competitions. She is a docent in the Department for Architectural Design at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture, and Geodesy in Split.  Major realizations: King Tomislav Square in Samobor (with Ergić, Petrić, and Milutin); residential building within subsidized residential construction programme in Cres (with Ergić and Milutin); interior design: Eronet series, TeoP (with Štrbac), A Part; exhibition displays: ‘Zgraf 9,’ ‘Zgraf10,’ Stefan Sagmeister... President of the Expert Committee of the Croatian Architects’ Association from 2009 to 2011. Significant awards: annual Vladimir Nazor Award in 2004; Luigi Cosenza European Architecture Award Silver Plate for the best realization by young European architects in 2004; third prize at the 41st Zagreb Salon of Architecture; Piranesi recognition; annual award of the Croatian Association of Artists of Applied Arts; award at the 36th Zagreb Salon of Architecture.
