Tate is a very special client to every architect: in a general and in a specific British context. It is a large public art institution which employs over nine hundred people at four locations. Although complex and large, Tate has a very live dynamics, which is rarely seen in big organizational systems. It is a live place, where decisions are made quickly, and where there is a lot of experience in processing construction assignments, architect Adam Caruso told me, having completed the first stage of the now awarded Millbank Project designed by the Caruso St John architects (2014 RIBA London Award and 2014 English Heritage Award for Sustaining the Historic Environment).
