Collective Housing in a Post-collective Age

Architecture is quite readily pronounced dead, if not every year, then at least every decade. It’s been on its last breath since forever. Opposed to the pessimism of this tendency, the issue of ‘social housing architecture today’ is doing quite nicely. It is a topic that is renewed and made topical every few years. We could look for the cause for its vitality in the bare necessity of housing architecture itself, of course, but also in the constant frustration with its incarnations.
