A few notes on Latin American literature

To begin this short survey of the situation in Latin American literature with the contemplations of a European writer, to be more precise of Belén Gopegui from Spain, is contradictory only ostensibly. Gopegui states that there are two kinds of literature: necessary and probable. Necessary resists acceptance of the existing social circumstances. Here, we find authors who can imagine better, juster and freer relationships, and this assumption determines their materials and themes.
