Omotesando Avenue in Tokyo is one of the most dazzling streets in the world, where famous fashion brands have not only stores but entire buildings designed by world-renowned architects, intended to stand out because of their sophisticated and experimental design. The focus of this picturesque world is Harajuku Station, built in 1906, one of the rare Tokyo buildings that is old by the standards of Japanese metropolises and still in its original condition. Omotesando and the Harajuku neighbourhood are incredibly lively and bustling, crowded with tourists and citizens shopping, walking or having fun, with a scattering of youth subculture groups expressing their identity through specific fashion iconography.
