There is nothing new in the statement that the time in which we live is marked by the intense influence of globalization on architectural practice and as a consequence of that, by a multiplication of generic forms of powerful gestures which mainly manifest the power of capital which has generated them. Similar to the extent to which the peripheral position of Croatia in such global surroundings has had an impact on the possibility of retaining a certain degree of freedom and authenticity among a number of skilful authorial personalities, so does the Turkish, although in many respects different, somewhat ‘detached’ position give a free hand to the Turkish architect Han Tümertekin.
