During the last year we have witnessed many harsh words written about architecture. It has been accused of many things: elitism, spectacularity, inappropriate excesses, the star system, commercialisation, conceptual shallowness, iconophilism, erosion of moral standards and indifference towards real problems. Nonetheless, disappointed observers did not come up with new alternatives in their brusque and acrimonious criticisms.
