Hungerburg is a district of Innsbruck with a marvellous view of the town. Originally, it was a thickly wooded mountain terrace, rising some 300 metres above the town, at the base of the magnificent Nordkette mountain range. At the end of the 19th century, transformation of these foothills in the town’s vicinity into a trendy summer resort took place. In 1906, the first Suisse-style villas and hotels were connected with the town by cable railway.
