In August 1835, William Henry Fox Talbot, an Englishman and expert in oriental languages, a friend to astronomers and scientists and the inventor of the process allowing him to obtain stable images with the aid of a camera pbscura, took a photograph which he titled Latticed Window. Next to the image he wrote a short text describing the image was unable to show, at least at first sight. The text read: Latticed window (with the camera obscura) August 1835. When first made, the squares of glass about 200 in number could be counted, with help of a lens.
