Building on an Island

The Croatian coast is burdened with serious planning and architectural problems. A large percentage of the volumes built can, unfortunately, be classified as “the contamination of the environment with construction”. These buildings are most often the anonymous products of the local builders, but sometimes even irresponsible architects are building these “dream houses”, adorned with plastic balustrades, uncontrollable balconies, bay windows, colonnades. Their only local colour is the roof covered with Mediterranean type tiles. It is all the more important to draw attention to to entirely different examples that do fortunately appear and that are not based on false images and illusions.
