The high levee, with its trapezoid cross-section, stretching along the northern concave bank of the Sava River is an unusually important place in the common memory of the city of Zagreb, as well as in the memory of Zagreb, as well as in the memory of Zagreb modern architecture. The completely regular arch of the regulated river bed, with its belly right in the right place – the central axis of New and South Zagreb – provided generations of Zagreb town planners an ideal framework for the planning of a contemporary city of the plain, with the historic city huddled under the mountain in the background.
