An Innate Utopian Drive?

 

Every civilization has the necessity to create ideal islands, enclaves and missions.

 

The modernist ‘utopian spirit’ was grounded in the understanding that the future could fundamentally transcend the present.

 

Utopias – literally ‘no-man’s lands’ – often appeared as radical visions, ideal worlds opposite to the status quo.
