The city is a natural environment for the T=D2 project … People professionally involved with cities claim they are out of control now. They state, “you only can surf the waves” of globalisation, which at the moment seems to be blamed for just about anything. Societies are changing the way they are organised, from territory-based to connection-based organisation. Another big process that is changing society is individualisation. Both processes are hard to grasp. Yet there are practices that want more than this. They want to survey individuals. Mapping connections must be the most efficient way to do this. What strategies are hidden behind mapping? How do maps and institutions of power get along with each other? Can the mapping of a city be used as its own critique or even to help someone build their own utopia?
