Last summer, when I contacted the famous American philosopher Arthur Coleman Danto in the middle of preparations for Andy Warhol’s exhibition in Zagreb – naively hoping that he would find room in his busy schedule for a short visit to Zagreb and a lecture on Warhol and the end of art – little did I know that a few months later the author’s generosity would make me the proud owner of “the largest collection of dantoiana in the Balkans – or perhaps in the whole of Central Europe!” and that, more importantly, Professor Danto would become a dear friend.
