Scroll and Armour

architect Peruško Bogdanić
project Memorial to Fallen Croatian Soldiers, Sisak, Croatia
written by Tonko Maroević

Following closely from his beginnings the sculptural work and the development of Peruško Bogdanić (almost a quarter of a century has passed since then), I have noticed his strive towards the elementary, primary forms that carry with them a specific enigmatic quality, ambiguity, symbolic value. The simplicity he turned to has never been one of pure geometrical solutions, neither one of direct organic associations. He used a combination of natural and mental stimuli, very often matter and material suitable for direct dressing (wood, stone), so that he could not enter into the enclosure of exact constructivism, strict mathematical structures, unambiguous solutions.
