During the expansion of New York City in 1931, portrayed in Dos Passos’ Manhattan Transfer, renowned architects dressed up like their buildings–modernistic, futuristic. A few years later, in 1942, Peggy Guggenheim’s Art of This Century gallery opened in New York City. On the opening night, Guggenheim famously wore one earring by Surrealist artist Yves Tanguy, and another by Abstract artist Alexander Calder, to show that she supported both movements equally. She also commissioned painter Edward Melcarth to create bat-wing and butterfly sunglasses. Today in Zagreb, we are the contemporaries of a new generation of young leopards, fashion designers. Already during their studies, just like young architects who had been winning anonymous public tenders for the buildings of the pos program (Program of Subsidized Residential Construction) a decade earlier, these started producing their works of fashion and artistic design, or wearable art, and exhibiting at important events and salons, being employed by both, the handcrafting and industrial sectors, launching their own brands, and being read on the blogs.

In 2012, Silvio Ivkić, a student and a fashion designer, and Jure Perišić, a fashion photographer, launched their own fashion brand, the Coded Edge.
