House at the Top of the Cliff

project Block of Flats, Split, Croatia

The last undeveloped location at Zenta, an attractive part of Split, called for a project for known buyers. As it was expected that each flat would have to be specially adapted according to future buyer requests, the first sketch design phase of the project presented only standards of certain “units” – their disposition within the layout would be determined by the future users, without that resulting in any influence on the facade. In addition, the dwelling size was to be determined after all the buyers had signed their sale contracts.

The southern front facing the sea, on the top of the cliff swooping down onto the little port of Zenta, is overlapped by a linear and dotted grid introducing multilayeredness into the structural order.
