The Aesthetics of Block

On the heights of French Grenoble’s Valley, Odile Decq has designed a fantastic artist residency that successfully integrates a bold and audacious architecture with its natural surroundings.

The Residency appears like a monolith, and this is exactly how Odile Decq designed it. From the start, I wanted this residency to be like a piece of art, a monolithic sculpture, she said. Considering the landscape around, you quickly understand why. The Residency, commissioned by Colette Tornier, a contemporary art collector, sits at the edge of a park where she has gathered a large part of her outdoor sculptures collection, signed by today’s most creative artists.
