written by Vera Grimmer

In their research work, being influenced by the works of Austrian modernists from the 1950s and 1960s, the architects of the Artec Architekten use the method of reduction to reach the essence of their concepts. Thus, it is not surprising that, for their new residence, the architects have chosen a house designed by Roland Rainer, a modernist, functionalist, a city planner, influential teacher, an advocate of dense settlements with preferably low-rise buildings, where the primary criterion is the privacy of their users. He is renowned for his residential areas such as Puchenau near Linz and Mauerberg, Vienna.
