The first episode of the 4-part documentary series Slumbering Concrete, directed by Saša Ban and produced by the Hulahop production company for the Croatian Radiotelevision, was presented at this year’s zagrebdox, festival of documentary film held in the last week of February. Titled Socialism Meets Capitalism, the episode explores the destiny of the Haludovo tourist complex (project by Boris Magaš) in Malinska, on the island of Krk. What we will for this purpose relatively frivolously name the destiny of Haludovo, is actually a complicated intersection where a number of directions meet. These directions come to mind even to the interested and versed viewer, during each contact of the old and the new, that is, of socialism and capitalism.
