When designing in the areas of archaeological remains, an architect is confronted with the question of presenting historical material traces in the present, that is, in the professionally supported future of archaeology.

In a modern city, archaeological remains can be studied as themed spaces with great tourism, scientific and educational potential. Besides the aesthetic, symbolic and cultural value, spaces of archaeologically built heritage can represent an added value in the tourism offer and in the quality of life in the city by appropriate conservation, presentation and program upgrade. The wholesale reconstruction of archaeological sites can be divided according to three main approaches: a non-invasive approach, an infrastructure approach, and an invasive approach.
