During the 1980s architectural research in Croatia corresponded with some of the then current international topics: the return to the historical core was researched and the continuity of urban forms discussed. The discussion of construction tasks moved away from functional premises so the themes were articulated more precisely and narratively. In a specific economic context of late socialism which was, among other things, characterized by a macro-economic stagnation, but new investors as well, or so-called private entrepreneurs, architecture found the opportunity for more ambitious realizations in smaller public interiors.
