Explosion of the Backdrop: Frederick J. Kiesler and the Theatre

During the four decades since his death in New York in 1965, there have been numerous aspects of Frederick J. Kiesler’s artistic creation presented in large, internationally very successful exhibitions (the latest from 21 March to 23 July 2013, Museum Villa Stuck, Munich). Thus Kiesler, known in his lifetime only to a small circle of insiders, has become a world renowned artist, who now holds a permanent place in the history of 20th-century art as one of its most versatile artistic visionaries.
