The junction of Währingerstrasse and Bolzmangasse is a good place for good architecture. Probably a leftover from the end of World War II, this empty plot is one of the last undeveloped areas in the urban nucleus of Vienna. Many people colloquially call such areas greenswards while experienced urban planners, also slightly derogatorily, refer to them as ‘permanently vacant plots’. Such plots inspire the imagination of people with modern sensibilities.
