Screening of the film SADAR+VUGA XX and talk with the architects

15/09/2017

On Thursday, 21 September at 7pm, a documentary film titled SADAR+VUGA XX about the architectural bureau of the same name will be screened at Oris House of Architecture. After the screening, there will be a talk with architects Sadar and Vuga moderated by Oris’ editor Maroje Mrduljaš.

Documentary film SADAR+VUGA XX, directed by Damjan Kozole, explores the production of the Slovenian architectural office SADAR+VUGA, founded in 1996 by architects Jurij Sadar and Boštjan Vuga. Through their personal reflections, complemented with critiques by international architects, architectural critics and policy-makers, researching their massive archive and visiting their largest realisations, the film documents various themes of the office’s architectural communication and production as well as their never-ending quest for the ‘new’ in architecture.

The film follows four distinct periods in their production, starting in mid-90s, when times in the young republic were favourable to the changes in politics, society and architecture; continues through the period of fast economic growth and subsequent global financial crisis; and culminating in the never fully realised project for the Sports Park Stožice in Ljubljana - a climax which fails to reach its whole potential, followed by the reinvention phase of the office.
