"Ne gradi pitoreskno. Prepusti taj učinak stijenama, planinama i suncu", pisao je Adolf Loos 1913. godine. Očigledno su samo malobrojni investitori u posljednjih stotinjak godina pročitali njegova Pravila za one, koji grade u planinama, a da se i ne govori o tome da su se tih pravila pridržavali. U austrijskim Alpama je prevladavajući građevni stil dugo prezentirala kućica sa kosim krovom i malim prozorima: bijela žbuka, drvena obloga, drveni balkon. U najgorem slučaju se pitoreskni san o vlastitom domu ostvarivao montažnim kućama. S priličnim zakašnjenjem moderna arhitektura podsjeća na činjenicu da se sklad između spartanskog karaktera građevina i oporog karaktera planinskog svijeta zaista može uspostaviti.

"Do not build picturesque. Leave that effect to the rocks, mountains and sun," wrote Adolf Loos in 1913. It is obvious that only a small number of investors have even read his "Rules for Those Building in the Mountains" during last hundred years, let alone followed its rules. The prevailing building style in the Austrian Alps has been long represented by a small house with sloped roof and small windows: white façade, wooden panelling and wooden balcony. In the worst case, the picturesque dream of one’s own home has been turned into reality with the invasion of prefabricated houses. With great delay, modern architecture reminds us of the fact that it is really possible to establish harmony between a Spartan character of buildings and the harsh character of the mountain world.
