Ivan Picelj has never engaged on a single graphic project by chance or guided by the need for subtly scheduled occasional appearances amnog the visual arts public. The artist, farmiliar with the most deeply hidden and most subtle strategies of abstract art diversions, especially neoconstructivism, when working on the present graphis series managed to integrate not only the avant-garde spirit still relentless in the historical time continuum, but also the longing of a sentimental memento for the intellectual-aesthetical achievements and Zagreb ambiance of News Tendencies. However, Picelj did not engage in supporting elaborate theoretical elaboration; in this sense, Picelj follows the line of radical modernists for whom the art act itself is a strong enough artistic gesture and sensation to provoke a reaction in viewers.
