The last decade has seen genuine recognition of quite a few buildings as heralds of transitional architecture in Slovenia. The continuous presence of school architecture among award winners or among the nominees for national awards shows that school design has substantially improved. Ljubljana’s secondary school for healthcare, Maribor’s secondary schools for commerce and food processing, and an elementary school in Grosuplje are cases in point. There have been a few Slovene architects who have managed to produce high-quality school buildings since the nineties and one of them is architect Janko J. Zadravec.
