When, in 2012, Anupama Kundoo was invited to participate in the curated section of the 13th Architecture Biennale in Venice, she chose to rebuild, in a manner of speaking, her own house from Auroville, in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. The house is known as The Wall House, built in 2000 as an experiment, both in the craft of building, and in the notion of home. Kundoo’s exhibit in the Biennale titled, Wall House: One to One stunned visitors for the boldness of its attempt, but even more importantly, for the questions it raised about the very act of exhibiting architecture itself.
