Arhitecture Pill

written by Željko Kipke

This Viennese architect, who won the Pritzker Architecture Prize in Los Angeles in 1985, is currently exhibiting within the Kunsthalle’s Summer of Love (from May to September 2006) dedicated to the psychedelic art of the 1960s. For this occasion, the Kunsthalle has borrowed an unusual piece of well known architect from the Generali Foundation’s collection. Not a sketch, a draft or a photo of a building but a red-and-black pill attached to a plain piece of paper with an inscription in typeface; the first row reads Hans Hollein, and the second non-physical environment. This conceptual witticism dates long back, eighteen years before its author received the award on the US West Coast.
